Academic, Job and Life Prep Programs

College Campus Tours

Admissions advisors are more likely to accept applicants who have demonstrated a strong interest in the school, including by visiting the campus. The college residents attend can have a significant impact on their academic and career success, as well as their overall well-being.

The Prep Place will take eligible residents to various local and state wide campuses because we understand the impact setting foot on campus does for visualization and manifestation.

Academic Assessments

Academic Readiness:
We meet each resident where she is—whether she's behind on credits, disengaged from school, or simply unsure of her academic potential. Our academic support includes personalized tutoring, credit recovery programs, GED preparation (if applicable), and high school diploma completion pathways. We offer trauma-informed academic coaching to help youth rebuild trust in the learning process and regain a sense of academic self-worth. Residents also receive structured college counseling, SAT/ACT support, and exposure to post-secondary environments through campus tours, virtual college fairs, and guest speakers. Whether pursuing a college degree, trade school, or alternative education path, our program equips youth with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to access and persist through their next educational chapter.

Applications and Scholarships

College application and scholarship assistance are crucial as they help students navigate the complex process of applying to colleges and secure financial aid in the form of scholarships, and grants allowing them to afford higher education.

Workforce & Entrepreneurship Readiness

Workforce & Entrepreneurship Readiness

Workforce Preparation:
Our workforce readiness program provides comprehensive, trauma-informed support to help youth confidently enter the job market—regardless of prior exposure. We begin by guiding residents through foundational career exploration, helping them identify strengths, interests, and viable paths. Training includes resume building, mock interviews, LinkedIn profile creation, workplace communication, and professional etiquette. We also provide instruction on how to navigate job applications, read pay stubs, and understand workplace rights. Residents participate in job shadowing, volunteer placements, and on-site employer visits to build real-world exposure and confidence.

Entrepreneurial Incubator:
For youth with a creative spirit or desire to chart their own path, our entrepreneurial incubator introduces the fundamentals of business planning and financial modeling. Residents learn to identify market needs, draft business ideas, and create budgets using accessible tools. We support them in developing elevator pitches, business plans, and basic marketing strategies, and provide access to pitch competitions and starter grants where appropriate. Entrepreneurship is framed not only as a career path but as a tool for self-determination, creativity, and long-term empowerment—especially for youth who may not see themselves represented in traditional employment paths.

Technology and Digital Fluency

Workforce & Entrepreneurship Readiness

Technology and Digital Fluency

Technology and Digital Fluency:
We begin with foundational digital skills to ensure every resident—regardless of prior access—can confidently navigate today’s tech-driven world. Many of the youth we serve have limited access to Wi-Fi, computers, or digital literacy at home, so we provide hands-on support in basic computer use, typing, email setup, file management, internet safety, and navigating online platforms for education and work. As residents build confidence, we introduce more advanced skill development in areas such as coding, cybersecurity, and digital marketing—opening pathways into high-growth, high-demand industries.

Financial Literacy:
Delivering essential financial education on banking, budgeting, saving, credit-building, and navigating public benefits to ensure financial confidence and informed decision-making. Youth are also guided through real-life simulations—such as bill payment, cost-of-living planning, and avoiding predatory financial traps—to prepare them for long-term economic stability.
